Devil May Cry - Rise From the Ashes

The demon is getting closer to his goal!
Syrissin is attempting to open a portal to the demon realm he will have to open three seals, which are small portals in and of themselves. We will need more hunters to protect the cities when the seals are released. If you are planning on making you character a hunter be sure to read the protocol in the Character Template carefully.

Syrssin sighed heavily as he waited for his guests. He already told the creatue in red. The being was undoubtedly insane even by demonic standards. It was evident in the way the being behaved even when sitting down it gave off the aura off some sort of unhinged predator.
But the creature beside him wasn't his worry. The odd being wasn't the reason he was so nervous. It was Vergil. He knew Vergil from his childhood. Heck the man was a teacher for a time but that had been years ago. He hadn't seen the man since Temen-Ni-Gru had been activated.
Syrissin sat tapping his foot in a steady 1-2 rythmn. 1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2,1..... He knew Vergil would need a good reason for aiding him in opening the Hell Gate. He tossed reasons in his mind and his only solution happened to be a kid, silver haired as well but carrying something very precious to Vergil. His prized katana, Yamato.
'Can you please stop humming that ridiculous tune...' Syrissin growled an edge of fang showing. Syrissin wanted dearly to cut the creture up, if only to see if he could bleed confetti.

The creature stopped a rapidlt turned it's head, like a bird toward the young demon, the bells jingling eerily. It had been humming 'The Ants Go Marching One by One,' for about twenty minutes as it watched humans walk by the empty shack, staring at them as if it were a cat and they were mice.
'It seemed to go fine with your foot, devil-child...' The creature chuckled revealing a shark tooth-filled mouth.
'I am starving and unlike you I don't eat pizza. I like my meat.... Fresh...' The creature wasn't in one of it's playful minds it was a in a predatory state.

'Be that as it may,' Syrissin said his eyes glowing slightly, leaning slightly forward,' is that its a human child's song.'
Syrissin wasn't really bothered by the song in actuality it reminded him of a lullaby he heard as a baby. A simple little tune and an angelic voice would sing it... But he could never envision his mother's face. The fact that this creature was singing something so eerily close to it bothered him.

He had been following the sense, its sense, his sword, to where Kitsuki was. He felt this other presence and he planned on ignoring it, however, it seemed somewhat familiar. He entered the run down building, stern faced as always as he stepped into the dark.
Though Yamato it was not, Vergil tightened his grip the katana at his side, prepared to weild it at less than a moment's notice. He frowned harder at the black empty space before his as he peered at the darkness, listening for any sound of movement. He cared little what this detour had to offer, if it had anything. His main concern was returning to Kitsuki, though he may have taught her how to fly, he was slightly skeptic on whether she would know when to flee and when to stay put.

'You need some light,' Syrissin said softly his blood-red eyes glowing slightly in the dark. It wasn't a question it was a statement. Syrissin focused on the ancient chandlier above and the candles flickered the white flames casting a ghastly light around the surrounding room. Syrissin sat at the table, his usually handsome and attractive face seemed gaunt and frail in the unusual light. The demon was sitting back slightly the legs firmly on the ground. It was a look of quiet comfort but also meant he was ready for a confrontation.
'It's been a while, Vergil-sama,' Syrissin looked his old master up and down. Syrissin immediately saw that Yamato was not by it's master's side. Syrissin prudently held his comment and gestured to the dusty chair opposite the creature and himself.
'I didn't realize you lost the manners you beat into me in Temen-ni-gru,' Syrissin said smiling slightly,' Walking into someones house uninvited... Someone may believe you are up to no good.'

A weaker man would have confusion writen on his face, but this one kept his expression neutral as he examined the boy in front of him. The young man that called him 'sama' reminded him of a time long ago. A time he had wanted to forget, when he had made one of the largest mistakes of his life, though he would never confess that thought to anyone. His gaze migrated to the creature next to the boy, he visibly tensed and his expression hardened into a glare.
"You," he unsheathed the blade at his side in less than the blink of an eye and had the tip against the creatures throat as he continued, "should be dead." He stared hard at the being at the end of his blade, and did notice the difference between it and the being that had been Arkham. However, he did not lower his blade as he regarded the boy again.
"You seem familiar," he did not look away from the creature for more than a moment. He was still talking to Syrissin, though he kept his eyes trained on the foe in front of his blade, "How do you know me and what do you have to do with this creature?" He waited calmly for the boy's response.

Syissin didn't even blink at Vergil's predictable reaction to the creature. Syrissin didn't answer Vergil's inquiries immediately, but instaed studied Vergils movements and recognized that Vergil wasn't anywhere near the strength he should've been. He could easily see the fluidity within the strike although it wasn't truely an attack. Syrrissin watched the line of the movement not of the inferior blade but of Vergil's body and saw that he was indded a n extremely skilled fighter but due to his absence his skills weren't on par with Dante.... Well not yet. Syrissin pushed those observations aside and then focused on Vergil's questions and smiled slightly before answering.
'I was the son of Cerberus the guardian of ice. You came to Temen-ni-gru as did Arkham. I fought you once and instead of killing me you decided to teach me. You were my master till the tower fell...' Syrissin said slowly, not as if he were talking to a child but due to his mind flashing memories of the night his home was destroyed.
'As for the creature he told me he had some information of something that could be of interest to you... That is as long as you're willing to listen,' Syrissin said his eyes trailing over to the creature and shrugged.
'I just hope his smart enough not to be lying. Lying to you Vergil-sama is asking to be killed.'

Keeping the tip of the blade at the creature's throat, Vergil turned to the boy and studied his face for a minute. He slowly relaxed his arm, lowering the blade as he recognized Syrissin. Though he had lowered his weapon he still watched the other out of the corner of his eye, hand tight on the hilt of the sword at his side.
"I believe i do remember you," He took a step back from them both, for two reasons, one to get a little distance between himself and the Jester look-alike, and to stand on the opposite side of the chair intended for him, "i would rather stand if you don't mind," He glanced at the creature where it sat, keeping on guard, ready to hack it to ribbons if need be.
"IT's been a long time since that night," he regarded Syrissin again before continuing, "Many things have changed."

Syrissin could recognize the compliment for what it was but didn't call him on it but instead went staight to businness and pulled out pages of ancient texts. 'These are ancient texts on the explination and activation of the original Hell Gate known as the Nexus. It was sealed before your fathers time so Sparda, not in ignorance but rather in lack of interrest, never investigated it,' Syrissin locked eyes with Vergil as he spoke.
'I've memorized every note, side note and bit of information on the Nexus... It requires three to open the gate and three to close it. I have my own reasons for opening it. Our slightly deluded friend,' Syrissin indicated the still silent creature next to him,' Simply wants chaos. I asked you here for help. In return we can get you Yamato back. I noticed due to the lack of your accustomed blade your technique isn't as... fluid.' Syrissin had no tone to his voice. It was how you had to be with Vergil-sama, precise with the facts no emotion and completely honest.
'Are you willing to listen to the rest of the information, Vergil-sama?'

His expression did not change though he was surprised by the amount of information the boy had gathered. The prospect of more information on his sword looming over his head made him almost angry, for others to use that as some sort of weakness. But this young demon spoke with respct, not the illusion of power.
"I don't see that I have a choice," Vergil came around the chair, sword tight in his hand still, and sat, "chaos? I've heard that from a being with a similar face, and that night ended in betrayal." he regarded the jester look-a-like with a hosltile glare.

THe creature smiled ferally it's wicked eyes shining. 'Arkham's memories reside within my mind but I an assure you I won't be such a fool. You could easily chop me into confetti,' the creature said standing up slowly and pacing, it's limps loping around. The sight would've been comical coming from anything else. The creature stopped and laughed as he realized something the sound coming out like gravel. 'The devil-boy only wishes for his precious sword and yet it's phantom wanders freely... Welll I'll just get to the point. The nexus according to this book,' the creature opened it's hand and the tome emerged drenched in blood from it's palm. 'THe book contains information on each key needed to unlock the gate,' the creature tossed the book onto the table towards Syrissin. 'Memorize it. I don't want blue boy here thinking I'm lying through my shark teeth.' The creature's voice was a hiss as it's predatory instincts were getting more and more insistent. 'I shall now go and find me lovely little meal.' And with a poof of confetti the creatyre was off, hunting his maniacal laughter echoing through the streets as he preyed upon the weak.

Syrissin recognized the book as easily as he recognized his own face in the mirror. Arkham had carried it around the entire time he was in Temen-ni-gru. Syrissin studied the book from a distance as a foul red aura emanated from the leather bound damnation. Syrissin catiously opened the book and instantly he felt the books pure evil enter his mind, whispering dreams of power and conquest. As Syrissin listened his eyes completely erupted with red light and the pages of the book flipped on there own accord, the knowledge entering the youth's mind.
'Enough,' a voice said and the book shut and the light left the young demons eyes. It took a while for Syrissin to realize it had been his own voice that commanded the book to stop. Syrissin still had the knowledge within the book inside his mind but Syrissin's mind flashed to the creature that had just left. It knew the very power that had corrupted it and yet had handed it over, not too Vergil, a demon with a stronger will, but to a young demon who would be easily swayed. Or was it the reverse? Had the creature sensed within Vergil some sort of weakness that Syrissin hadn't? Did the monster see within Syrissin a potential that was beyond Vergil? The book's whisperings brought forth images of Syrissin battling both Dante and Vergil with ease, a relaxed smile upon his face. Syrissin shook his head to rid himself of the peturbing thoughts. He knew it was a lie of the book, desperate for a true host, something far greater than human it was currently bonded too. Syrissin sighed and his mind went through the information on the Nexus. Syrissin voiced what he read through his mind.
'The Nexus is the original gate to and from the Demonic Realm. The gate can only be opened in this world and closed in the other. The keys are the Towers of Wrath. The first is in the north, The Key of Hatred. It unlocks for those who only posess hatred and the drive to power. In the east The Key of Blood, only blood of a demon born of impossiblilty can cause this key to rise. And The Key of Violence within the south, those with a love of chaos and destruction can hope to open the gate. When each key is activated the very key it's self becomes a small portal allowing lesser demons to enter and make ready the coming of there masters. When a key has been activated it's portal will remain open even if it is destroyed within the human realm. Only by removing the Key's counterpart within Hell can it be closed,' Syrissin slumped over panting as his litany ended his eyes darted trying to keep up with his mind. Images flashed of the chaos it would bring but deep within him he had a feeling that things would play out the Fate intended, the book told him of a legend that he dared not voice. When Syrissin found his voice he looked at Vergil waiting for a response.

His eyebrow twitched at the mention of his form with his current blade. His frown deepened as he considered the options before him. They had the only clue available, that he knew of, to releasing Yamato. But what exactly did they want from him? He had heard of the Nexus, only once in passing, he was rather surprised that this young demon had gotten hold of so much information so easily.
"Assuming you aren't lying, and for your own sake you'd better not be, just what are you asking of me," He was curious to hear just what information the boy had found

Syrissin almost glared at the impertinence of his former teacher. Did he not hear the litany Syrissin voiced not a minute before? Syrissin leaned back in the chair and pushed the book away from himself, his eyes shut in thought. It was still calling him, and he had no desire to be anything other than himself, promised power of the book was the power of the damned and he had no wish to have that particular curse upon him. His luck was bad enough.
He wanted to get strength on his own, his own power himself, not the strength of magics far greater than himself. A Devil Arm could be considered powering power unless the wielder was highly skilled with multiple types of weaponry, such as Vergil and his brother. Owning a Devil Arm was a sign that the great devils had acknowledged your power and instead of returning to Hell or even the abyss they gave you there power, like a partnership. Syrissin's mind went back to Vergil's question.
'For my sake I better not be? You sound like Dante the making that threat, but no Vergil I won't lie, least of all to someone I respect so much,' Syrissin paused before cintinuing.
'It's simple what I'm asking of you, as you put it. There are three, gateways to activate in order to open a the Nexus completely. I can't go it alone and the creature knows more than he tells, that much is certain. Dante and is troupe of hunters and allies will all probably join together to look for the gates. They could destroy one of the gates before I get to one. Even with the creature, that leave one gate vulnerable, and a 33 percent chance that Dante will destroy it,' Syrissin paused agin letting his words sink in.
'It's a simple case of logistics, I have more demand then what I can currently work with. What I'm asking of you, Vergil-sama, is that you activate one of the three towers,' Syrissin stood as he spoke and stretched before giving Vergil what he knew he wanted.
'The information I have on the where abouts of Yamato are small. All I know and from the mutterings the creature has to himself when he believes his alone. "The key is a phantom, the steel is within the copy... And the copy is the chest..." or other such riddles to himself... I think he may mean Nero, a demon hunter that resides in Fortuna. Which is north of here, so it may be somewhere near the Tower of Hatred, I was hoping that you could activate the tower while you look for the boy...' Syrissin said his voice passive.
'But that's assuming that you'd aide me, but you have yet to say yes or no...' Syrissin said calmly, his blood red eyes sliding open slowly his hands resting on the hilts of his blades. The movement surprised him. It was instinctive, almost as if he expected an attack from Vergil. Syrissin knew Vergil was calmer than Nero and even Dante, but a slight voice whispered behind him, to be careful and tread lightly. Syrissin's eyes almost lazily went up to Vergil's pale orbs.
'Would you be willing to aide me? Or should I start finding a far less talented individual, one that will be far more likely to fail?' Syrissin asked his voice placid almost too calm for his personality.

Rising from his seat, he began to pace the room. Though he never truely turned fully away from Syrissin as he made laps. He had quite a bit on his plate to consider, opening a portal to the demon realm in return for information on his missing blade. As much as he would love to have a reason to kill his brother, he would need his beloved sword before he would manage that feat. He was still curious as to the motivation behind this young demon's desire to bring about such chaos. Though he doubted the boy would tell him much. However, there was an oportunity lying in this partnership, he could find and reclaim his sword.
"Flattery will not aide in swaying my decision," He looked to the boy throught the corner of his eye, "Though I think I may help you, however I wish to reclaim my sword first. In the chances of Dante coming to shut the portal I will need my," He paused glancing down at the human-made katana in his hand, "Proper weapon back." with that he finally turned his back to the demon, stalking out the door, wanting to head for Fortuna in search of this 'Nero'.
